Posted on: 9 February 2017

March 2nd is World Book Day in 2017 and it is the 20th Anniversary. We thought you might like a little help so we have put together 20 ideas for dressing up.

Dorothy from Wizard of OZ

All you need is a blue gingham dress, perhaps your school summer dress, a white apron, ribbons, basket, toy dog and some Red Sparkly Shoes

Princess costumes are always very popular and you may already have one which has been used for a party already – just a few to choose from – Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, Snow Queen or Elsa

Hundred and One Dalmatians

The best character in our opinion – CRUELLA! cruella

Pippi Longstocking

Its all about the hair and then any casual clothes will do.

Traditional Tales

Some of the traditional stories stand the test of time and are read again and again through the generations. Alison in Wonderland, Goldilocks, Wind in the Willows, Paddington and Little Red Riding Hood are just a few.

Newer Tales

And then there are some more modern stories which are great fun and can be quite easy to for dressing up. Where’s Wally, a red and white striped jumper or t-shirt, matching bob hat and some round glasses what could be quicker!

The Cat in the Hat – its all about the Hat!

How about Charlotte’s Web – Jeans checked shirt, trainers and a soft toy pig

Recommended Books

Two of this years recommended books for younger children are Peppa Pig and Princess Mirror Belle.peppadress

Roald Dahl

There are so many lovely children’s books written by Roald Dahl – two which could easily be used are Matilda and The Witches.

For Matilda – blue dress, school shoes, straight dark hair with a fringe and a red hairband with a bow. For The Witches – well need I say anything!

Hope all this helps, we would love to hear your ideas.
